TMS For Social Media Causes Anxiety

How Social Media Causes Anxiety

Social media is a vital part of our daily lives. Many of us use it to connect with friends, receive news updates and even do our jobs. With all that being said, social media can also have a negative impact on the user – especially young adults – causing anxiety and depression which leads to sleep disorders.

But how does this happen?

Social media sites thrive on the needs of users – they want their users to be engaged. This means that social media is constantly giving out stimuli – whether it is a push notification or an e-mail, this stimuli will make the user engage with the site again and again. In most cases, these engagements are harmless, but there are times when social media sites request the user to do something that will have an effect on their mental health.

In a study conducted by The University of Pittsburgh, it was found that when people were asked to reveal personal information about themselves or share certain thoughts online, they actually felt worse after using social media sites. This is because these activities created expectations for others to do the same. If these expectations were not met, a person felt inferior and anxious.

In another study conducted by the Department of Behavioral Science at Northwestern University, it was found that those who spent more time on Facebook were prone to depression and anxiety. This is because users tend to compare themselves with others as retaliation for feeling social pressure from peers.

Therefore, social media sites can cause anxiety and depression in people who were once considered normal and mentally healthy. With that being said, the only way to prevent this is by limiting one’s use of social media and taking a break when necessary.

Anxiety and sleep disorders are side effects of constant social media use which is why TMS is the best treatment option.

TMS for Social Media Anxiety

TMS is a non-invasive, drug free treatment that can greatly reduce symptoms of anxiety. The reason why TMS works so well is because it has an effect on the neurotransmitters in our brains which regulate moods. Neurotransmitters are chemical messengers within the brain that control how we feel, think and act. When a person is anxious, their neurotransmitters are unbalanced which can cause emotional upheavals. TMS restores this balance by targeting certain areas of the brain to produce these chemical messengers that will help regulate our moods.

Therefore, TMS helps restore proper levels of neurotransmitters in the brain and provide long lasting relief from anxiety symptoms.
